While I can not make a direct connection with Margaret Shimmin, I do have an Ann Shimin in the family who, I believe, was in the Patrick-German vicinity in this time frame. She married a Thomas Coole, bearing a daughter Jane Coole, b. 1811. Jane married Charles cain in 1833, both migrating to Nissouri West, Middlesex County, Ontario immediately thereafter.
