Nigel, my antennae twitched when I saw a reference to "Kermode the Chemist" in your message to Sylvia re Francis Corjeage:
"Judith Cowley born c. 1771
mar 11th July 1801
bur 9 Apr 1837 aged 65
married William Kelly of "The Green" i.e. Bowlingreen Road area of Castletown.
Their five children are well documented, and the connection is remembered by J.C. Cannell with daughter Margaret Kelly (1802-1861) who married John Kermode (Sadler) of Castletown. Whence "Kermode the Chemist" I am assured."
In 1966, when my grandpa was in his 80s, he had a photo-labelling session with my mother. One of the pictures (of 2 young ladies with 2 young men, wearing clothes dating to circa 1905) is labelled "Nellie (Nellie Kneen b 1885, his sister) with Henry Kinley, Sally Bell and Willie Kermode the chemist." Is this Willie Kermode (b circa 1882 ?) likely to be a descendant of the family mentioned above ?
