Jean: I am unsure about his line. I know for sure that a John Reid married Mary Jane Dunn 1882 in York, Ontario, Canada. They had 3 children of their own, then took in her sister's daughters (one of whom is my grandmother) when the parents died of flu related symptoms.

Therein lies the problem: On John's marriage certificate he lists his father as Andrew Reid and his mother as Catherine.

I can't find an Andrew born either in Scotland or Isle of Man who had a son John.
