I'm not sure who the parents of William and Ellen are but I think it might be John born 1841 Ballaugh to William Keig and Ellen Caley.

The thing I find hard to understand is the journey out there, then back and then back out there. How long would it have taken and would it not have cost a lot?

I found a record for William Keig marrying an Annie Elizabeth Keig in Christchurch NZ in 01 Jul 1891. It looks like they had the following children.

The thing is William Keig had an aunty called Annie Elizabeth Keig. What are the chances he married her?
