I have a puzzle. Having joined ancestry.com I have been plotting out many of my family lines the last few days mostly my Kelly/Cretney line.

1 William Cretney 1580 married ???
2 Finloe Cretney 1602 married Mary Oates 1606
3 Oates Cretney 1641-1732 married Margaret ?? Christian 1653- 20 Dec 1694 BallaKilley, Maughold,
4 (Ann's parents) William Cretney 1691 married Ann Fail 1695- 1724
5 Patrick Kelly 1708-1787 married Ann Cretney 1717-1781
6 John Kelly 1763-?? married Ann Mylevoirrey 1760-?
7 William Kelly 1792-1864 married Ann Quane 1796-1864

I have serious doubts about the relationship between Oates Cretney 1641 and William Cretney 1691

Also the presumption that Oates wife was a Christian. in many places I found that though most agreed his wife was Margaret many did not know her maiden name. It seems odd that a Man from St Marks would marry a lady from Maughhold, not impossible but odd!

Can anyone shine a light on these lines and perhaps straighten me out!
