I'm looking at the Ward family in the 1911 Isle of Man census. Living in '2 rooms' at 18 Tynwald Street with James and Ada Ward (married in Douglas in 1906) and their 3 youngest children is their niece Margaret Kirkpatrick aged 4.

I know Ada's maiden name was Kirkpatrick, so assume that Margaret is the daughter of either (a) one of her brothers, or (b) perhaps an unmarried sister. Margaret is shown as being born in Liverpool, but after extensive searching I can't find her birth being recorded in that part of the world. Ada was supposedly also born in Liverpool, but I can't find her birth either.

I'm wondering if perhaps the young Margaret was sent from Ireland to Liverpool to live with the Wards, who subsequently moved to the IOM? Anyone know how to check/access Irish birth records?

My basic membership of Ancestry doesn't allow me to look at Irish records, and I don't want to upgrade when this is such a long shot!
