Re: Corlett help
In Response To: Corlett help ()

Hello Iain,

Constance Radcliffe wrote about this family: "From James' second son Robert (1812-1876) are descended the family of W. D. Radcliffe of Douglas and the Radcliffes of Ardonan, Andreas; his youngest son Henry, who was drowned in 1881, was the father of William Radcliffe the schoolmaster. John's youngest son Evan (1838-1895) married Judith Radcliffe of Ballavastyn (1848-1896) from whom are descended the Radcliffes of Ballacain Ballaugh.
Hom Mooar's third and youngest son William (b. 1763) by his marriage to Jane
Kaighen established a family known as the Ballavastyn branch, because of the
residence of some of them on part of that quarterland. William's son and
grandson, both named John, were only sons, but the grandson John (b. 1817) had
ten children by his marriage to Catherine Corlett, and another seven by his
second marriage to Ann Jane Kissack. Of these seventeen children, ten were sons,
but most of them left Andreas for other parts of the island, or "across". So far
as is known the only descendants of this branch in the North of the island today
are the Radcliffes of the Kella, Sulby".

Are you descended from John Radcliffe & Cath Corlett?
