The 1871 Andreas census shows John and Elizabeth Priestland in Archdeacon Moore's rectory with presumed children Harold, Walter, and Arthur Priestland living in the household. An IGI search on Arthur, Harold, and Walt shows the mother's name as Elizabeth Stringer/Striner. Haven't consulted the originals. You probably know more about this than I do.
I will say that my interest stems from the fact that the brother of my great grandfather's mother was buried in Liverpool's Anfield cemetery in the same plot as John Priestland's son Walter and wife Eunice (Vondy) Priestland.
Notes taken May 16, 1991 LDS Film Number 1564470 Anfield Cemetery Burial Register Item 2 1873-1879 "Liverpool Cemetery" Page 438 #8747= burial record number.
Robert Clague 49 years Cooper 79 Pythian Street West Derby Purchased Grave 2/473. Geo. Turvey registrar.Buried in the general section of Anfield Cemetery in Purchased Grave 2/473. March 14, 1876. Reverend D.J. Waller performed the services.
A visit to the cemetery yielded surprise occupants of Robert Clague's plot in the form of his step daughter and her young son and her husband and, Walter and Eunice Priestland. The tombstone inscription is as follows:
"Eunice beloved wife of Walter Priestland who fell asleep 17 dec 1916 aged
62 years/ Also of the above Walter Priestland who died 8 march 1923 aged 71 years also
Mary Anne wife of Robert Kinnish died 17 jan 1870 Also their son William Thomas died 25 july 1869 aged 11 months Also Robert Clague died 12 march 1876 aged 49 years."
I do know that Archdeacon Moore performed the wedding ceremony for my great grandfather's brother Robert Edward Clegg. I am assuming that Robert Clague thought he would need a big plot for members of his famly who instead were buried elsewhere and his widow simply sold her interest in the plot and the Priestlands number came up. Other than that, I know of no reason for their presence there.
Hope this has been edifying.
