I eventually received a reply to my query. This stamp was designed for a special exhibition in Hong Kong which had nature as its theme.
The legend of St.Patrick was the same as for Ireland, that St.Patrick brought Christianity to the Island, and drove out all the snakes. The strange hieroglyphics in the bottom right hand corner were of course Chinese.
