In the Van Buren County Historical Society Vol. VII 1987.yearly genrealogy book, The information suggest that the sparkman came from the Isle of Mann. I have not find a Sparkman in the Isle of Mann myself, only in England does the name show up. I information you are giving may get me going in a different direction.
