If his parents' names and address are given on the marriage cert the next step is to get his birth cert using those details. As next of kin you shouldn't have a problem getting this. If you already have his birth cert you should be able to get his parents' marriage cert using the details on the birth cert - then their birth certs from details on their marriage cert - and so-on, going back one generation at a time.
I'm assuming you have proof that he was born in Douglas IoM, not the UK Douglas?

You could try asking them for his parents' marriage cert at the same time. You may need to send them a photocopy of your marriage cert.
