This is a supplementary thread to Look Up request re the Edmondson family of the MER.

My mother who was distantly related to the Barnes family, was a regular visitor to Strathallen Crescent, the MER headquarters, in the 1920s, as she and Dorothy Barnes were also close friends. She mentioned another girl at Strathallan called Violet, but I never bothered to check any further. I recently discovered that a Miss V Edmondson was company cashier in 1931. I wondered if this was "Violet", but it could have been an unmarried sister or a daughter of Frank Edmondson. I found that a sister was not a possibility (the only possibility was not a "V"), and yestrday traced a birth entry of 1911, Violet Florence Edmondson, the middle name being after her mother, Florence Mary Tambaci.

I do not have a precise DoB for Violet, or any idea of what happened to her. She was MER Cashier in 1931 but had left the company by 1936, so may well have left work on marriage, which was common in those days.

Can anyone help ?

The other query related to her mother, Florence Mary Tambaci, who was born in India in 1878 to Caralambros Tambaci, a Manchester based "India Merchant" and his wife, who was just 16 years old when Florence was born. The wife, also Florence had been born in India c1862 so was from one of the families of the Raj. I have not been able to get any further or work out what Florence ELiza'a maiden name was. Can anyone help ?
