Len, Thank you so very much for this additional information. I found Thomas and Eliza and family in the 1901 census when they were living at 9 Whitby Road, Balsall Heath Birmingham but could not find them in the 1911 census.
I certainly plan to get marriage certificates, the question is which ones? Perhaps of Thomas's parents and Eliza's parents, that might take me much further back on the journey of my search.
Strangely, I have heard next to nothing about my grandfather's side of the family other than they came from the Isle of Man. He emigrated to Australia where he married Jessie Healey in 1913and they had 8 children, all born in Brisbane Queensland. Sadly, my grandfather died in 1958. Thank you for providing me with another piece of the jigsaw puzzle, it is very much appreciated. Vivien
