There might be a bit of a struggle ahead I predict as some of the politicians look on the MAC as a magnet to draw overseas descendants back to spend their cash here. This has been (or was) the approach of the Irish Ancestry centres that indexed the RC registers etc. My view has been the wider records are available the better. It is better for overseas descendants to do their research first and they will get so much more out of a trip - they can do the fun bits like visiting relations, family homes, churches intead of being in the repositories with inadequate data from home which is a risk.
