thankyou it is actually the fathers surname. I thought it might have been that but just wanted to make sure.
Sorry it has taken me so long to reply. I have been trying to find the rest of the family. I have found a John Gawne who married Jane Morrison in 1836 and have been following that thread, so having fun doing that.
