I had forgotten I had asked this question back in 2006!
Thanks for that information it helps me further identify Septimus. In fact, since posting the question I have made contact with Jimmy's daughter who confessed to never having heard him called Jimmy. Apparently he was James to his family.
I believe the common theme was the former Loch Parade Methodist Church where my family were active members.
