I believe John Callow chr. 1855 is a grandson of Phillip Callow (1745-1826) who was the 4th child of William Callow beg (circa 1716-1793), the 2nd generation owner of Croit Roie an intack in the northern part of Lonan and near the border with Maughold.
Phillip Callow married Eleanor Callister 25th Nov. 1769, Lonan. This date only became available recently on the Manx Note Book thanks to Francis and not available on any other index.
Phillip and Eleanor Callow had 11 children christened at Kk Lonan and one daughter christened 1794 at St. Matthews, Douglas.
Phillip Callow moved from Ballaquark, Lonan to Douglas between the birth of his last son James chr. 1791 Lonan and his daughter Eleanor 1794 at St. Matthews. He left Ballaquark because he owed money to a new landlord (actually a landlady) who was going after bad debts. This tidbit of information was found in the presentments available only at the MNH library in Douglas.
Phillip Callow died 1826 Douglas and was buried at Kk Braddan. His wife Eleanor was buried 1805 at Kk Braddan.
James Callow their youngest son was married to Isabel Cowin 1816 Lonan and had six children, four of whom reached maturity.
