I was also searching on the Cowins, as Ballacowin was occupied by one of my ancestors in the 1850's (not a Cowin) but Margaret Quine (Kelly) who by coincidence was raising the son of Isabell Kelly who was named Benjamin Kneale at the farm in Ballacowin

You dont have a Charles (Chas) Cowin anywhere in your research do you? He had a daughter Charlotte to an Isabelle Kelly in German around 1842. Would love to hear from you if you have! Regards, Jan
