Builder: at Berwick
Year Built: 1832
On Sunday 18th December 1870, a smack was
observed in Ramsey Bay to be labouring heavily.
She was the Pearl, of Ramsey, Jas Lord, master,
which had left Ramsey the day before bound for
Douglas with a cargo of sand. From the shore it
could be seen that her sails had been carried away.
At 4.30 p.m. the Ramsey Lifeboat was launched
and in a few minutes was lost to sight of observers
on the shore. As it was blowing a gale, those on
shore felt some anxiety, until at 11 p.m. the Lifeboat
nobly entered the harbour with the three crew of the
foundered smack.
