Hi Donna,
Thanks,
I did some digging tonight and found William and Eleanor Kelly from Peel. He was a tailor and Draper working out from 10, Michael Street, Peel, acording to 1881 census, he employed 2 men and 2 boys. I found that William and Eleanor had 10 children and two died around age 9yrs as you found and were buried with their grandparents William and Ann Kelly nee Quane.
On the 1851 census Ann Kelly nee Quane is stated as being a dressmaker and another son, it is not clear if he was Evan or Ewan was an apprentice Tailor, I guess a few of the children followed that trade.
There is a Thomas Kelly on one of the Directories for Peel for the late 1800's. His address was 12 Michael ans he was also a Tailor and Draper, Could he have been William Junior 's younger brother born 1837? It just seemed odd to have the Kelly name right next door to each other doing the same occupation.
Another Son John Kelly bn 1818 ch 27 July 1818 at German, was a stone Mason according to the 1851 census, I can find no mention of him either. do you have anything in your records or copies of?
I found a Burial record of an Ann Kelly at German for 11 Feb 1864 age 69yrs. COuld this be my Ann nee Quane?
You said on the 1861 census William and Ann were stated as residing entry # 2 90, what does this mean?
How would I find where Shen Valla was, could you educate me? Sorry for all the questions.
I have found the marriage cert for William and Ann for Feb 24 1816 at Kirk Patrick. She was cited as being a spinster of the Parish of Patrick, I guess that doesn't necessarily mean she was born in Patrick as I have presummed! I was under the impression that Quane was more or less soley found in the Patrick area, am I worng?
Thanks so very much Donna, Maybe I will crack this line as well and find where these two families came from and who they were.
Sorry about the complicated response, I am like a dog with a bone when something is found and I find all sorts of questions come up. Any help again would be appreciated,
Kind regards
