Can anyone help us?

My wife's Greatgrandfather was a Captain Burrows, born 6 July 1830 somewhere on the Isle of Man. He had a three masted schooner and traded in South East Asia,mainly in Java, then Sarawak, and finally Singapore. He died in Singapore on 25 June 1884. 

Some years ago a Lt. Col. Henry Burrows was seconded to the Brunei Army to command it and let it be known he was looking for any relations in that area.
Unfortunately my posting from the U.K. to Brunei was some yesrs later. We are trying to draw up a family tree. Can anyone help?
