The Ben-my-Chree III was sunk off Castellorizo on 11th January, 1917 by the Turks whilst serving in WW1.
It was launched in 1908 in Barrow by one Esther Cowell (nee Quine).
It was reported to be the fastest of the Manx boats.
Of course, the IOM Steam Packet presently has two boats (plus Seacats) called the Lady of Mann and the latest Ben-my-Chree (VI).
