Moaney Moar (not Moore) is 'Turbary big' in Manx - Turbaries were where peat was cut for fuel and are on upland areas - there are two Moaney Moars on the Island one in German the other in Malew - (see http://www.isle-of-man.com/manxnotebook/ under parishes for maps etc) - however it is likely that it is the one in Malew (grid ref SC270731 on Ballamodha straight) as one tennant giving his address as MM in 1889 was Kennaugh Robert, farmer, Moaney Moar see see http://www.isle-of-man.com/manxnotebook/ fulltext/pd1889/mw.htm
