There was some talk at the Registry some years ago of a better index being prepared to ?marriages?.
At present there are 8 indexes to marriages running concurrently from 1884 onwards, and these are not well microfilmed. The wife's name is not indexed until well into the 20th c.
With regard to wills, Leslie Quilliam of Peel with a series of other volunteers looked at a long series of wills in the 17th and early 18th century and produced lists. I wonder whether Les still has the lists in digital form? They did not index the beneficiaries or witnesses.
