the book is still available - see http://www.manxnotebook.com/famhist/genealgy/miom1991.htm difficult to summarise but you want chap 15 which I summarise: Thomas Tear maternal great grandmother was a gawne - widow with 3 sons + 1 daughter, eldest drowned, 2nd thomas was heir (? married a Karen) 3rd was lame - Daniel - he was father of John Gawne who moved to Lorain county Ohio about 1830;
Grandfather Thomas born 1748 d. 1818 - 3 sons, 4daus Daniel, john,thomas,joanney(judy),Ellen (nelly),Ann (nancy), Jane, daniel (the heir so presume order he gave was not age ?) married aunt to present William Radcliffe (mason) of Hamdben ohio (he gives no name for her) - she was raised in a tavern, died childless and he remarried.
