Hi - I am a descendant of the Quanes of Ballaquane through the Gells of Ballelby, the adjacent farm. The first of the family I have traced was Thomas Gell, c 1700, followed by three William Gells in succession. I will look out the detailed descent and let you have it. There were many daughters in the families, and a lot of the Dalby families were inter-related. Eventually the Gells inherited Ballaquane and part of Glen Maye through intermarriage with the heiress. Goodwin's notes are very good on the Gells and Quanes and other Dalby families.
