I am looking for my family who is said to have come from Stanleydale/Standleydale Scotland or the Isl of Man. I believe that the given names were possibly John or William who came to the United States in the 1600's or 1700's and settled in Vermont or Virginnia. Any information would be great. I have only traced back to Harvy Stanley/Standley who married Elizabeth Hale of Pennsylvania. The oral history passed down is as mentioned above so there is nothing concrete to go on.
