I lived in Ballasalla till 1957 when I was 8 years old. In a cottage on the way to Silverdale lived Miss Greetham. She was an elderly lady, possibly dressed in black, who never seemed to speak to anyone as she did her shopping in the village.
Possibly after we left the island, we heard that she died in her cottage and I did think that it was sad that she always seemed so alone
