Am forwarding to your email address part of our family tree which shows that names on the tree could be linked to your enquiry. My great grandfather Joshua Henry Gill came to Australia in the 1850s . He owned a sailing ship (E.J.Spence) and sailed around the Pacific Ocean. You mentioned the name of sailing boats -- is there a site or lists available that names the boats and their crews that operated out of Peel ?.
