An unofficial view from me is that: A few people are doing a heck of a lot of work, as with most clubs. Obviously this cannot be seen by those abroad from the Island, or those on the island who don't use the facilities. We treasure those who spend many hours on their commitment, and I know of one committee member who would love to have the time to learn the computer, but presently gives the IOMFHS so much time, there is no time left!
Genealogy takes a lot of time anyway, whichever way you go about it. And look-ups can take a lot of time too. Believe me! There are so many ancestors with the same names, and similar birthdates. Yes, it is a little island, and the information is here, but everything takes a lot of time.
I am sure your comments are meant only in a helpful way, as Ernie said, he will look into things. But according to Admin, and Frances, who are computer experts, unlike me, someone who is computer almost illiterate, there is a lot to be considered. I should not expect things to move immediately, although it could be that some changes are in the offing.
I would suggest that the IOMFHS BB is being read regularly by IOM based members, as I recognise various names on the BB. I like to read the page, and answer and help people where I can, if the mood takes me. But I would not like to take it on as a commitment. Would you, if you had the information available ? I think Frances as pointed out the reasons for my attitude, and other peoples similar attitude, in one of her recent postings. Not least the phone-bill!
I hope these comments have been helpful, Elizabeth. Susanne.
