I think your spot on. I have a very old photo of my Great Grandfather and Great Grand Mother sitting outside their cottage on Cranstal Beach. I think that his nickname was Jack the Lugger (or Logger)and he can be seen mending his nets.

From memory only, I think that the young girl in the photo (their daughter)was called Kitty but I'm afraid that I can't be sure. Does this ring a bell?
